1993 AWAKE on Child Abuse
by The_Doctor10 in10/8/93 awake article about child abuse misconceptions, checkout the second misconception: children fantasize or lie about abuse.. this article notes how it's extremely unlikely that children lie in cases of abuse (95% in some estimates are truthful) and how even among the ones who lie it's usually when they make a claim (in truth) but then subsequently lie and say it didn't happen, when in actuality, it did.. given this knowledge, why the two witness rule?
95% odds that the child who claims abuse is telling the truth by the awakes own admission, that should be more than enough to change policies of the wts.. http://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/g19931008/about-child-abuse/#?insight%5bsearch_id%5d=8d161c40-c4d0-4ddb-aadf-bcf2b480d55b&insight%5bsearch_result_index%5d=0.

Very good find. I know there's another watchtower that assert the opposite. This other Watchtower is the one that change my views on the WT and child abuse. The highlight of this other watchtower essentially is that the abused should forgive the abuser, kiss, hug and forget about the whole thing. -

A difficult yet necessary decision
by Brother Jeramy inthe past five weeks have been perhaps the most painful in my life as a witness.. some months ago a young man (i'd say in his late thirties or early forties) began attending meetings at my kingdom hall.
he had just moved to my area from another state.
he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

Sorry, this is tangentially related.
I don't get it. To avoid disfellowshipping for a blood transfusion, what the "sinner" has to do is repent and show that he/she was under pressure. You would think that if God is willing to allow someone to die, is because the sin is very serious, and therefore requires a harsh and long punishment. But no, all you have to do is repent and show that you accepted blood transfusion under pressure. On the other hand, if you have sex out of marriage (nobody dies... usually), repentance is not enough, a long and humiliating process is expected.
If someone willingly takes blood, perhaps because
of being under extreme pressure, the committee
should obtain the facts and determine
the individual's attitude. If he is repentant, the
committee would provide spiritual assistance in
the spirit of Galatians 6:1 and Jude 22, 23. Since
he is spiritually weak, he would not qualify for
special privileges for a period of time, and it may
be necessary to remove certain basic privileges. (p. 111 Shepherd the Flock of God)
Punishment for very serious offense (blood transfusion):
nothing if you play the game well.
Punishment for most other offenses (deemed not as severe):
long humiliating process

Eternal life through brain transplant into an android body only a matter of time. Religion no longer needed.
by fukitol inhumanity doesn't need to continue believing in hocus pocus pie in the sky religious hogwash and pipe dreams to have hope of everlasting life.
nor is it necessary to find the fountain of youth or turn off the aging process.. it's only a matter of time until science achieves it.
maybe not decades away, maybe not even centuries, but eventually..... ....mankind will achieve eternal life through a transplant of the human brain into a future highly advanced robotic body.. already the scientific fundmentals for it exist.

1914+120 years = 2034 (one year too low of target, 2035)
606 b.c.e. + 2520 years = 1915 c.e. (one year too high of target, 1914)
average score of the watchtower is 100% right

July Broadcast Denies That JW Children Die Rather Than Have Medical Care
by BluesBrother inanthony morris 3rd delivered the broadcast this month and advised that lies are circulated that they let children die rather than have medical care .
he says this is so inaccurate as to be a boldfaced lie ...... further he says it is "up to the parents to determine what would be the best treatment for their children" .
now, does this mean that parents are really free to make a decision to accept blood for their minor child, if they so choose?

@Memphis
They do lie from time to time. Of all their deceptions, possibly a very tiny portion are lies, but they do lie every now and then. Overall you are right, the lion's share of their cheating is carefully crafted deceptions that border on lies, but in the strict sense of the word are not lies.

"The Watchtower is anti-Semitic"
The entire Christian movement is anti-Semitic. Haven't you read the New Testament, the epistle of Barnabas, and many other Christian writings, haven't you read European/Christian history?

"By the way, my post in not meant to be taken as a challenge to the current convictions of a non-theist."
It's not a challenge at all. It's a challenge to my brain capacity to understand what your brain Is trying to get at. I think the opening piece was quite simple and clear.
If I may add, why a good G-d who is interested in humanity and according to many, wants humanity to know him, doesn't communicate in unequivocal terms. He could fix all doubts, all religious wars, all debates between sects, most wrong doers (at least they will be scared). Either he doesn't exist, or he doesn't care, or he is having fun playing "hide and seek"

Why using Jehovah for God's name is as good as using Yahweh
by oppostate inin another thread i wrote some notes about why using jehovah in english is as good as using yahweh.
i'm starting a discussion on this topic because it sounds quite ignorant to hear people talk of the monk who started using it in latin without really understanding why the monk did so.. the spanish dominican monk, raymundus martini, in 1270, didn't get hoodwinked by an old jewish superstition about pronouncing the divine name with the vowel points of another word.. 1. first the vowel points of adonay and jehovah cannot be the same for grammatical reasons.
you just can't use the same vowel points because some vowels aren't paired with some consonants in pronouncing hebrew words.

I agree with the basic premise that a name is just a way of identifying something without changing its essence. However, it's the emphasis that JW's put on that name when combined with the history of it that makes it amusing. They are always attacking other religions, especially the RC, for corrupting scripture, not realizing or not admitting that that corruption is all over their own Bible, especially that mongrel, "Jehovah"
@CalebinFloroda
I have read your explanation by another biblical scholar, Christine Hayes, I like it much better than the idea of the tetragramaton being a proper name in the ordinary sense. I agree with that conclusion just based on what you quoted from the Bible, namely the name revelation to Moses.

Should I hit send button as is? Change? Or just hit delete?
by Lied2NoMore inso after being deleted because of my comment on her instagram post by my sister-in-law i got a text from her stating she didn't want a debate on instagram and the scripture i posted would not apply to satan, they are worried about me, go see elders, return to jehovah, or else you won't get life, etc etc.... i'm ready to respond with the following reply:.

I agree with all the comments saying "change" or "delete". But quite often I find myself saying all the things that you wrote and coloring it with four letter words. I have "preached" this way to two of my JW brothers and an two elders for three years. They are still attending meetings, conventions and preaching, as much as they did before. Only time will tell if I made a dent in their beliefs. However, there's a better way, I think, the gentle, subtle way to persuade works more effectively. It allows for discussion to continue. Your way (my way too) ends the process quite abruptly.
Define clearly your objective. Is it to unload your anger on a believer, or hurt the Watchtower by pulling away its most valued resources, your sister and 8 million other innocent humans. I'd go for the latter.

@Nittygritty
Candace lost, or changed nothing??? From this court case we got...
- Two national news shows brought negative coverage about the Watchtower, not about Candace.
- Candace case also has caused many people to come out of the shadows and denounce the Watchtower congregations as a pedophile haven. Several lawsuits have been spearheaded by the results in the Conti vs Watchtower case. More negative coverage to come.
- The Watchtower paid an undisclosed amount of money to Candace.
According to your account I should reverse my previous statements. You would like to possibly exchange the words "Watchtower" and "Candace". But, will that be accurate and truthful?
